Nerding: A Program for Older Kids Who Like Learning
Each month, on the 4th Tuesday from 4:30 to 5:30 pm, we'll explore a new topic about which to get nerdy. This program is intended for older kids (10 and up); sessions will include crafts, discussions, tasks, and instructions that are too advanced for our littles.
All sessions will start on the second floor in the Juvenile Fiction section. This program is on the same night as Love on Leash, so plan to stay after Nerding ends and read to a service animal in training.
The schedule is as follows:
February 25 - KALEIDESCOPES - How do they work? We’ll have supplies to make small ones, but can we figure out how to make a giant one?
March 25 - SECRET CODES AND CODE BREAKING - When in history were secret codes used? Can we create and break our own codes?
April 22 - INTRO TO CHEESE - How is cheese made? Why does some of it stink? Will include tastings and pairings (please aware those who have lactose or gluten allergies).
May 27 - GEOCACHING AND GPS - What is geocaching? How does GPS work? Let’s go find some that are near the library. (please note - this program will involve traveling/walking outside the library)
