What To Watch, Read, or Listen To: LGBTQ+ Pride Month

June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month! Every year, the month of June honors the historical Stonewall riots at the Stonewall Inn in New York City in June of 1969, often considered a “tipping point” in the gay liberation movement. To celebrate strides made in LGBTQ+ rights and the community, Pride Month was created to increase visibility and decrease stigma, as well as showcase the influence LGBTQ+ individuals have had on our history, nationally and internationally.

Many will miss out on celebrations this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic–from pride parades held across the world, to social gatherings and more. Pride Month is about coming together as a community and celebrating each other.  We can still celebrate by exploring LGBTQ+ voices through music, books and movies!

We have created a Pride Month playlist, which has unlimited streaming on Freegal Music!
