Tails & Tales

For adults: 

Read or listen to books, or attend library programs this summer. When you have completed any five activities–any combination of books and programs—let staff at the first floor information desk know and receive your free summer reading tote bag prize. You’ll also be entered in a drawing for one of our grand prizes, including gift cards from Kirchoff’s, Knoth’s and Artisan Kitchen.

Tails and Tales

For teens 11-17:  

Read for 30 minutes 10 times (5 hours total), and then let staff at the upstairs circulation desk know. They’ll give you your free summer reading tote bag. For each activity, earn a virtual ticket towards the chance of winning one of our grand prizes. Keep reading to earn more chances! 

Teen Summer Reading events

Experience virtual escape rooms this summer! You can work through these online from home, or in the library computer lab on the 2nd floor.  

Join us each Tuesday afternoon during the program dates to watch an intro and tutorial video on our Facebook Page.

For kids ages 5-10: 

Read for 15 minutes 10 times (2 ½ hours total) and then head to the upstairs circulation desk for your free summer reading tote bag. For each activity, earn a ticket towards the chance of winning one of our grand prizes. Keep reading to earn more chances! 

All kids summer reading events will be virtual and air on our Facebook Page at 10 AM on the scheduled day.

For toddlers: 

Complete 10 of the activities below and let upstairs circulation desk know. They’ll give you your free summer reading tote bag. For each activity that you complete, earn a ticket to put towards a grand prize. The more tickets you earn, the greater your chances of winning. 

  • Visit the library 
  • Attend a virtual summer library program 
  • Play a game of “I Spy” together 
  • Share a story about your childhood 
  • Sing a song with thyming words, suchas Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star 
  • Act out your child’s favorite story with a puppet show 
  • Count your fingers and toes! 
  • Explore your senses through sensory play 
  • Sign up for/participate in 1000 Books Before Kindergarten 
  • Read a book about mindfulness 
  • Read a book about the five senses 
  • Read a book about your favorite animal 
  • Read a life-the-flap/pop up book 
  • Listen to an audiobook 
  • Share a book before bedtime 
  • Let your child turn the pages as you read a story
