Summer Reading 2023 Program Schedule

Kick off Party June 1st 2-6 PM

Sponsored by Atmos Energy and in Partnership with KET! Featuring mini golf, music, community partners, PBS Kids favorite Daniel Tiger, and the Atmos Grill Truck! Fun for the whole family, and fun for the whole community!

Children’s Performer Schedule

Wednesdays at 9:30 AM, 11 AM, 1 PM

June 7th

PlayTime Company – April Cochran Join us for a fun and interactive show from the talented actors and actresses from the Market House Theatre.

June 14th

Woodlands Nature Station – Shannon Brockway The Wild Partners program teaches about symbiosis and introduces live animals that have learned to survive together, featuring four live animals.

June 21st

Magician Barry Mitchell A humorist using illusions, storytelling, and audience interaction to deliver entertaining encouragement and education. Magic just for fun or an educational opportunity with a message of encouragement. There’s something for everyone.

June 28th

Matt and Jordan’s Summer Shindig The Library’s own Mr. Matt will entertain with silly music, movement and meatballs for a show of fun, friendship & togetherness!

July 5th BREAK

July 12th

Big Bang Boom! – Chuck Folds This high-energy, interactive, educational, parent-friendly children’s music show is great for grown-ups and children! Using their own original music and covers (with a twist), this group from Greensboro, NC has everyone moving and grooving! Everyone will find it hard to stay in their seats!!

July 19th

Unity In Our Community Day! (10 AM – 2 PM) Library parking lot — 5th Street side The grand finale of our children’s Summer Reading 2023! Come see how our community partners work as a team to make our city great! Police cars, fire trucks, farm equipment, and service vehicles will be on site for all to see and ask questions about. And the surprises don’t stop there! So come enjoy a summer day of celebrating us – ALL TOGETHER NOW!

These programs will be held in the library’s meeting room. Groups of 12 or more are asked to please call ahead and let us know you are coming! 270-442-2510 x122

Teen Tuesdays

Tuesdays in the Meeting Room from 2 PM – 3 PM

June 6th Peace, Love & BINGO!

Join Ms. Patti for a power hour of fun! TEENS ONLY

June 13th Matt’s Cross-Stitching

Want to learn how to cross-stitch? Join Matt as he teaches you the ins and outs of this fun craft.

June 20th Picasso Collage

Learn how to create your own cubist self-portrait collage using scraps of paper, with the assistance of Mr. Shaun.

June 27th Watercolor Bookmarks

Join Ms. Allison in the second-floor meeting room to make beautiful watercolor bookmarks.

July 4th BREAK Happy Independence Day!!

July 11th Terrarium Craft

Join the upstairs staff and create preserved terrariums! Make fun worlds inside small jars using preserved plants and tiny figurines.

Also join us on July 19th for our huge Unity in Our Community Day! (10 AM – 2PM)

Summer Reading Kick-Off (All Ages)

Thursday| June 1 | 2-6pm

Sponsored by Atmos Energy and in partnership with KET! Kick-off the summer with mini golf, music, hotdogs from the Atmos grill truck, and special guests from KET, including Daniel Tiger! Community partners will also be offering kids activities in the Library Garden.
