June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month!
Every year, the month of June honors the historical Stonewall riots at the Stonewall Inn in New York City in June of 1969, often considered a “tipping point” in the gay liberation movement. To celebrate strides made in LGBTQ+ rights and the community, Pride Month was created to increase visibility and decrease stigma, as well as showcase the influence LGBTQ+ individuals have had on our history, nationally and internationally.
Want to participate in a book club that focuses on discussing books about and written by LGBTQ+ folks? Join us for our monthly Rainbow Book Club!
In honor of Pride Month, we will be hosting a Garden Party Book Club in our library garden! Join us Saturday, June 12th at 3 PM to discuss Call Me By Your Name by André Aciman, and enjoy some light refreshments.
One of the ways you can celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month is by reading, watching, or listening to works created by members of the LGBTQ+ community! Click the titles below to find out more about them, check them out digitally, or place a hold on them.
