Let’s Get Crafty!

Want to get crafty with us from your home? Feel like getting creative and making something? We’ve got you covered! We have tons of tutorials on crafts, all easily made with household items.

One of our summer reading crafts includes making a diorama. Watch Youth Services Library Assistant Lea demonstrate using household items to create a diorama. Grab a box and find some knickknacks. Find it here on YouTube

Sugar scrubs are super easy to make, and exfoliate your skin. When made with safely diluted essential oils, you can get an aromatherapeutic benefit, too! Adult Services Library Assistant Amanda shows us how to safely make sugar scrubs that will leave you glowing with soft skin. View it here!

Want a summer craft that’s kid friendly and easy to make? Check out this tutorial on a Flip-Flop door hanger. There’s also a Patriotic Bandana Wreath tutorial.

Speaking of summer, we’ve got a beach-themed mason jar craft via Facebook Live coming up on Sunday, July 5. Make sure to tune in on our Facebook page at 2 PM. You’ll be able to find the video on our Facebook page after if you miss it.

For our wine enthusiasts, here’s a craft that finally uses those corks! Amanda shows us how to make Wine Cork Succulent Planters that make great gifts. (If you don’t drink wine, any craft store will have what you need to partake in this activity.)

Another great gift idea–this tutorial shows you how to take an inkjet-printed photo and transfer it to a wooden block to create a beautiful piece of art.

If you love DIY projects that save you money and eliminate mystery ingredients, check out these tutorials on DIY Dog Food and DIY Laundry Detergent

All of these crafts and activities involve items that can easily be found around the house or nearby in stores. Don’t forget to check out our ebook apps, Hoopla and Libby, for plenty of books on crafting. We also have a great selection at the library you can check out too!

As we continue to keep programming virtual, we are happy to help give you ideas on ways you can get creative and make things with your hands. Happy crafting!
