Front and Center is a series of small performances/or events held in the center of the first floor of the library, directly across from the main circulation desk.
Demonstration of Spinning Wool on Traditional Spinning Wheel with Fiber artist Lezlie Russell, Southern Illinois Spinners and Weavers Guild.
Russell will be spinning wool which comes from the Corriedale sheep. This is a breed of sheep from New Zealand and has a fine crimp which makes it an easy wool to spin. She is an avid spinner and weaver and has been for the last 10+ years. She has served as a historic interpreter at the Homeplace in LBL. Not only does she love most fiber arts, but she is also a silversmith and has studied at schools in Georgia and Tennessee. She lives on Lake Barkley in Trigg County, Ky. Russell creates art pieces from her home studio, Lezlie Russell Silversmithing.
