Homebound Service
Can’t Come to the Library? Let the Library Come to You!
Homebound Service Delivers Borrowed Materials to Patrons
Books can be a great escape, but only if you have access to them. The McCracken County Public Library staff knows many patrons cannot borrow materials because they cannot physically come to the library itself.
Who is eligible for this service?
The elderly, critically ill, or injured may be “homebound,” but they are free to take out whatever books or audio books they’d like!
The service encompasses anyone who may be unable to check out materials, whether their situation be permanent or temporary.
The Homebound Library Service is available to patrons living in the city of Paducah and McCracken County.
How does it work?
By filling out an application, anyone physically unable to come to the library may have their materials delivered to them – FREE.
Materials can be delivered to you in one of two ways:
• The library will mail books and audios to private addresses.
• Library staff will hand-deliver books and audios to those living in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or staying in hospitals.
The Homebound Library Service application allows library staff to make appropriate selections for the patron in question. Each person may select books, audio, or both. They may also mark their genre preferences, like “spy stories” from Adult Fiction or “Cooking” from Adult Non-Fiction. Children’s materials are also available.
How can I apply?
An application for the program is available at the library’s 1st floor circulation desk at 555 Washington Street, Paducah, KY 42003.
Homebound patrons have access to it online here
.
You may also request an application be mailed to you by calling 270.442.2510, ext. 118.
